Our Story
In 2002 Rick became a member of the Tom Izzo coaching staff at MSU as a graduate assistant. Over the next 15 years he worked as a Division 1 Basketball coach at every level possible holding every job except head coach. Each university he worked at provided him the opportunity to be around great people with great minds and shaped his core values, not just as a coach, but as a mentor. No matter where he was, one common theme became very noticeable about student athletes: who they are in the classroom is who they are going to be when it matters the most on their respective playing surface.
SpotterEDU was purposefully created to be able to not just identify truant students, but to alert a students’ support network in real time; opening lines of communication to help change a students behavior before it's too late.
Since our inception in 2014 we have not only grown our client base, but also the capabilities of our automated attendance platform. We've listened to our clients and learned the pain points of their jobs in order to provide solutions that allow them to do less and get more. We are currently working with over 30 schools and have automated attendance for everything from full campuses to athletic departments, from mandatory chapels to high schools. We are busy building our next generation of solutions to help schools help students and are excited for what the future holds!
